K/S has always been justly famous for its amazing art. We are certainly a very creative bunch…which is not surprising looking at the source material! We welcome all forms of Trek related art and crafts for our art display.
THE ART SHOW
Open to attending & supporting members.
If you are interested in taking part in the art display, competitions or auction, please let us know via the registration form under the membership tab. We will send you a form nearer the time asking you to let us know how many items you have and in which category, just to give us an idea as to how much display space we’ll need!
Non-attending artists submitting art or craft for the art show who want an item returned, must either send it via an attending member (who can bring it back afterwards) or forward it to Fiona prior to the con and provide return postage. If you are an attending artist and need to send items in advance, please let Fiona know.
We are happy to display art from the original artist, as well as resale art in good condition. (N.B. Pieces must have the owner’s name and address on them somewhere!)
I know it’s early, but get your thinking caps on – it’s time to get working on all those arty or crafty projects that you’ve always wanted to have a go at, but never found the time. We can’t wait to see ‘em.
In true KiSmet tradition, there will be an art competition with 3 categories, which cover pretty much every media out there. They are open to everyone, attendees and non-attendees alike.
Art Competition 1: This one is for original art work, pen/pencil/paint, in fact any media that starts with a blank piece of paper or canvas and ends up with something gorgeous.
Art Competition 2: This one is for any craft creations. If it involves glue, glitter, cardboard, wool, sewing thread, matchsticks or any other media that involves hours of painstaking work at the kitchen table, we’d love to see it - you create it, we allow it.
Art Competition 3: This one is for photo manips or any other form of digital art. For those of you who have never tried this, give it a go – it’s great fun.
We don’t have a specific theme this year, so as long as the entries feature our boys, it’ll have a place in the Art Room. We just want to see some gorgeous K/S and Trek artwork, so even if you’ve never entered anything before, give it a try.
The maximum amount of pieces, per artist for each competition, is 3, but if you have more that you’d like to bring, please let Fiona know and we’ll do our very best to display them. If space does become limited, this will be allocated to attending members first.
Every artist will have the option to sell or auction their work at the Con.
The winner and the runner up of each competition will both receive a little prize, together with much applause and honour, of course. Should a non-attendee win, we will send them their prize (so please make sure you tell us your home address!)
The winners will be determined by all convention attendees voting for the displayed artworks.
If you would like your art item(s) to be auctioned, please let Fiona know when you send in your information sheet.
All winning bids are expected to be paid for and picked up at the end of the auction. If you can't be there to pick up your piece, please ask a friend to do it for you.
If you have any questions about the art show, competitions or auction, please contact Fiona via the KiSmet email address: firstname.lastname@example.org
All items entered into the art auction will be subject to a 5% commission to the Convention Charity, the remainder will be paid to the relevant artist.
